Signs of the times
36.05.46: THE CHILDREN'S television programme FunDay Live! has buried a time capsule in the grounds of the ST-TV broadcast centre.
The programme hopes that the capsule contains the definitive objects of the 2040s. Its contents include:
- Sony mind-control equipment, which allows viewers to call up their desired programme simply by thinking of it
- Babel in-ear computer, which simultaneously translates more than 100 of the world's most common languages
- Iridescent spray-on fashion colours sourced from butterflies
- Bottle of first-growth turnip wine, poised to overtake claret as the French wine of choice
- CKP, Calvin Klein's responsive day suit, the fashion success of the decade so far, with automatic temperature control
- Speech-to-print contact lenses, which create valuable work and social opportunities for the deaf
- Snapper Clene, the drink that has changed the way we clean our teeth
- A video postcard sent back from Mars SC
