Candid cams for rugby cup
12.04.03: WALES won the Six Nations Cup at Cardiff Millennium Stadium yesterday in a thrilling match filled with high-tech firsts.
The 30-12 victory over Italy was the first time Sky used its new ball-and-player cameras, as well as tiny helicams allowing viewers to watch the game from almost anywhere in the stadium.
A tiny radio transmitter relays high-res video from the ball, allowing viewers to select their own view. The playercams, mounted on each player's headband, were also judged a success, despite two cameras being smashed during a head-butting incident in the second half.
